It’s no surprise that it takes lots of energy to run your life and wear multiple hats.  To have the energy to easily accomplish all that needs to be done, and feel good doing it all, is a goal that many of us strive for daily.

There are 3 kinds of energy – physical, mental, and emotional.  The way you manage these areas will impact your ability to live each day with vitality. Take this brief Energy Assessment and see where you could make a difference in your level of energy right now. Any “no” answers are likely contributing to your energy deficit.  Once you realize where you are losing energy, you can begin to take it back.

PHYSICAL
1. Is your home clean?
2. Does everything in your home / office have a home or a place where it belongs?
3. Do your clothes all fit you and make you feel great?
4. Do you have a place in your home where you can go to relax and unwind?
5. Do you drink at least 8 – 10 glasses of water every day?
6. Do you get some form of exercise at least 5 days a week?
7. Do you visit your doctors and dentist regularly?
8. Is your environment personalized and warm feeling?

MENTAL
1. Do you schedule more tasks in a day than you can reasonably accomplish?
2. Are you consistently late?
3. Do you put important tasks or projects off?
4. Do you spend time with people you don’t really like?
5. Have the same tasks or projects been on your to-do list for more than 2 months?
6. Do you commit to projects out of a sense of obligation?

EMOTIONAL
1. Do you tell the truth, even when it’s uncomfortable to do so?
2. Do you feel loved and accepted by those closest to you?
3. Have you let go of any past anger or regret?
4. Are you able to ask for what you really want?
5. Are you current personal and business relationships adding value to your life?
6. Do you surround yourself with people that uplift you and help you grow as a person?

If you have any “no” answers to the above questions, it’s a little eye opening isn’t it?  To be able to pinpoint some areas that are actively draining your energy is key.  Now you can actively begin to make changes that support your life.

You require energy to support every thought, word, action and interaction in your life, you have a limited amount of it available to you each day.  Your commitment to proactively manage these factors will support you in creating the life you desire.  Taking care of yourself, gives you energy to take care of everything and everyone else with ease.  You can’t overflow to others, until you fill yourself up first.

Go reclaim you energy today!

In my Member’s Only Success Coaching  group this month, we are discussing “Empowering Relationships”.  Relationships with yourself, with others, and with change.  All of these relationships in your life have their place and will either empower or disempower you, depending on whether you’re intentionally controlling them or letting them control you.

Intentionally nurturing and developing your relationships involves taking an honest look at where you are and making a plan to close the gap between your current reality and where you want to be.

Your ability to create, maintain and nurture meaningful and empowering relationships is a measure of your capacity to establish connection, rapport, and intimacy with another human being.

There are 7 principles of relating that you can use to increase this capacity and thereby develop a greater closeness and connection with those around you:

  • Be willing to Risk
  • Be Available
  • Be more Interested than Interesting
  • Be who you are
  • Don’t make assumptions
  • Accept without condition

Think about each of these 7 principles and ask yourself, “How well do I currently apply this principle to my relationship with myself AND with other people?”  Think about what may need to change or happen for you to be able to apply this principle without reservation.  What could be possible in your life if each of these habits were as natural as breathing?

To make any lasting change, it takes simply getting started, taking baby steps, and pushing through the excuses.  Just being consciously aware of these principles in all of your realtionships with create shift. The more you practice, the more habitual it becomes.

I love this picture of my sister-in-law, one of best girlfriends and me on a wine tour in Napa Valley. Love these girls!

You’re working a full time job.  You are also taking care of your kids, home, husband, all of which are full time jobs themselves.  And on top of all of that, you are building a business “on the side’ with the hopes of one day being able to quite your job, and enjoy the financial and time freedom that you so deserve!

So how do you move from the “one day” or “on the side” mentality to “I successfully run my own business, on my time?  Let’s start with a few questions…

1. How will you act differently, feel differently, behave differently when you are making the income you want from your “on the side business”?

2. Will you feel joy when you wake in the morning? Instead of dreading the work day ahead?

3. Will you give away more money and time to help other people?

4. Why do you REALLY want to change your life, and what are you willing to change to get there?

By pinpointing exactly how you will think, feel, and act when “one day” comes, you can start to imagine that day right now.  By thinking about the habits and feelings of your future self, you can start to behave like that person now!  Be grateful for what you have right now, and for the changes that are coming.  Choose to be happy NOW, and more happiness will come.

Start with the end in mind, write down a clear description of your life as you want it.  How much money do you earn (monthly and yearly)?  How much time do you spend working in your business? How is your ideal day structured?  Who do you have (either family or hired help) to help you run your home and businesss?

Work backwords to clearly map your yearly, monthly, weekly, daily goals and schedule to make it happen.  You can never reach a goal, if you don’t really know what it looks like.   To move past the “one day” mentality, you must act “as if” right now.  Be clear on why you want these changes, and know what you are willing to change to make it reality.

Do you know your current job so well that you feel like an institution?  You are the go-to person for all questions, problems, tasks, etc.?  Do you feel like your days run together, as if you are in the movie Groundhog Day?

This little exercise will help you start to find the joy and change your attitude a bit about the hum-drum days ahead!

I want you to find ways to look at your current career or situation with fresh eyes.  The point of the exercise is to find new possibilities, new information and new insight about what’s meaningful to you and in which direction your dreams lie.

Here are some ideas:

  • - Connect with someone you haven’t spoken to in a while and talk to them about your situation and what you’re trying to achieve.
  • - Look at your work and your concerns from the point of view of a client, a visitor, an investor, a colleague, your boss, your neighbor or anyone else you can think of.  What might they see or ask that you aren’t?
  • - Rearrange your work area, if possible, or take a walk through parts of your organization that you don’t normally go.  Alternately, redo your daily schedule so that you start handling routine tasks in a new order.  What insights can you find by jarring your perspective in this way?

Today, I want you to come up with one way to view your work from a new perspective.  Then spend some time exploring that perspective and see what you find.  You may need to return to this exercise several times to get the full effect.

You have a clean slate every day you wake up. You have a chance every single morning to make that change and be the person you want to be. You just have to decide to do it. Decide today’s the day. Say it; This is going to be my day.

~Brendon Burchard

This quote was the first email I read this morning.  This is such a great reminder to look at each day as a new beginning.  I really doesn’t matter what mistakes or decisions you made yesterday or last week or last year, you still have the CHOICE to do something different today.

I want to encourage you to decide, right now, how you will show up today.  How will your attitude be? How will you serve yourself and other people today? What actions will you take that will make a difference in your life, your business and someone else’s?

This is YOUR DAY, what will you do with it?

Leave a comment on this post and tell me what action you will take today that will make a difference in your world!

To your success!
